At Randstad, we are partnering with a global leader in high-performance transportation and industrial solutions to find a skilled Mechanical CAD Designer for a temporary assignment in Adelaide.

The Opportunity

This is a contract role perfect for a design professional who thrives in high-precision, heavy-industrial environments. This position offers the flexibility of a temporary arrangement while allowing you to work on large-scale, high-impact engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Precision 3D Modeling: Utilize SolidWorks to develop detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings for mechanical systems, sheet metal components, and steel structures.

• Engineering Documentation: Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including Bills of Materials (BOM), assembly instructions, and design change notices.

• Design Optimization: Collaborate with the wider engineering team to optimize designs for weight, durability, and ease of manufacture using advanced simulation tools.

• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with production and assembly teams to troubleshoot design issues and ensure seamless integration of components.

Who You Are

• Qualified Professional: You hold a degree or advanced diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.

• SolidWorks Expert: You have a strong background in SolidWorks (3D modeling, sheet metal, and weldments), with several years of dedicated experience as a CAD Designer.

• Experienced Designer: You bring a few years of proven experience in a heavy industrial, rail, or manufacturing environment, demonstrating a solid understanding of mechanical principles.

• Detail Oriented: You possess a high level of accuracy in drafting and an ability to manage complex assemblies with minimal supervision.

• Systems Proficient: Beyond CAD, you are comfortable working within Windows environments and managing data through PDM or similar document control systems.

Role Details

• Work Type: Casual / Temporary.

• Location: Must be based in, or willing to commute to, Adelaide.

• Requirements: Full-time working rights in Australia and a current South Australian driver’s license.
